A brick ice house on a hexagonal plan in the castle park in Pszczyna, in which ice cut from the Pszczynka ponds was stored.
The ice house in Pszczyna is a brick Neo-Romanesque building standing in the northern part of the castle park, on a small rise on the left bank of the Pszczynka valley. The site was entered in the heritage register in 2023.
In winter blocks of ice were cut from the ponds and backwaters of the Pszczynka and stored in the ice house. Thanks to this, food products could be kept cool in summer. Records from 1822 indicate that the filling of the building with ice was managed by the head of the Ducal Building Office, Ludwig Wilhelm Pusch.
The ice house has the plan of a regular hexagon and a flat roof. The walls are decorated with blind imitation windows, and in one of them is a low entrance. From the rise there is a view of the backwaters of the river and the castle.
