A Jewish cemetery of 1929 on ul. Jaworowa, with 21 fragments of matzevot and a monument of 1993.
The Jewish cemetery in Dąbrowa Górnicza was founded in 1929 on ul. Jaworowa. It covers about half a hectare. Today fragments of gravestones and a monument commemorating the necropolis survive there.
Originally the site was fenced. During the Second World War the cemetery was devastated by the Germans. To this day 21 damaged fragments of matzevot (gravestones) with Hebrew inscriptions and typical ornamentation have survived.
The monument commemorating the cemetery was unveiled on 19 August 1993. The initiator of the project was a resident of Dąbrowa awarded the medal of Righteous Among the Nations.
The fate of the Jews of Dąbrowa during the war is also told by the Będzin ghetto, located a few kilometres away.
