A brick Neo-Gothic church from 1896-1898, built on the initiative of Mother Eva von Tiele-Winckler.
The Neo-Gothic Evangelical-Augsburg church in Miechowice was built in 1896-1898 on the initiative of Mother Eva von Tiele-Winckler for the deaconess institutions Ostoja Pokoju (Haven of Peace) and the local Lutherans. It was consecrated on 2 February 1898.
The brick, oriented church has a rectangular plan and one tower in the north-west corner. The entrance leads through a portal in an annexe, above which there is a large rose window and a gable with an arcaded cornice. The interior has two aisles and a chancel closed on three sides. The Neo-Gothic high altar shows the Crucifixion on Golgotha with two Upper Silesian figures, a miner and a steelworker. There are also a wooden pulpit with a canopy, a stone chalice-shaped font and stained-glass windows with geometric patterns. The organ was built in 1898 by the Świdnica firm Schlag & Söhne.
The church suffered from mining exploitation: the walls and vaults were deformed, and the building tilted. It was closed from 2012, and repair and straightening work began in the following years. Check the current state on the parish website.
Right next to it lies the Tiele-Winckler Palace with its park, and in the neighbourhood the Corpus Christi Church.
