A parish church in Zabrze-Helenka, built in 1980-1988 to a design by Stanisław Sepioł.
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, stands in the Helenka district of Zabrze, at ulica Jordana 84. It is a church from the 1980s, designed by the Zabrze architect Stanisław Sepioł.
The building permit was obtained in 1978, and the site was blessed by Bishop Antoni Adamiuk. The construction was undertaken by Father Herman Piechota. Work lasted from 1980 to 1988. The form of the building resembles an ark and is similar to the chapel at Ronchamp.
The first Mass was celebrated on 22 November 1982, and Bishop Alfons Nossol laid the foundation stone on that occasion. The same bishop carried out the consecration on 9 October 1988.
The organ was built by Jan Maliński in 1994, and the instrument was blessed in 1997. The four bells were cast by the Felczyński bell foundry of Taciszów and blessed in 1987. In 2024 the bells were overhauled, including repairs to losses in the reinforced concrete structure of the bell tower and its plastering.
