A parish church in Godów, consecrated in 1930, with a tower rebuilt after it was blown up in 1945.
The Church of St Joseph the Worker in Godów is a Roman Catholic parish church in Wodzisław County. It was built after the fire that destroyed its wooden predecessor and was consecrated in 1930. It is the spatial and historical landmark of the village.
The previous, wooden church in the village burned down on 27 March 1921. Until 1930 the parishioners ran a temporary church in a barrack. The foundation stone for the new church, with historicising features, was blessed in 1927, and the finished building on 19 October 1930.
In 1942 the Germans requisitioned the bells from 1930, and on 1 May 1945, fleeing Godów, they blew up the church tower. In 1945-1948 the building was reconstructed without the tower, and in 1948 the polychrome was made. The tower was rebuilt only in 1983-1984. In 1993 a mechanical nativity scene by Eugeniusz Borek of Piekary Śląskie was put into operation, in 1997 stained glass was installed, and in 2005 a new organ was blessed.
