A brick parish church in Giszowiec, built in 1946-1948 to a design by Jerzy Krug.
The Church of St Stanislaus Kostka stands in the Giszowiec district of Katowice, on Górniczego Stanu Street. It is a small brick church with a single tower, built in the years immediately after the Second World War.
Construction lasted from 1946 to 1948, and the blessing took place on 17 May 1948. The design was prepared by Jerzy Krug of Giszowiec, and the interior was designed by Helena Szuster of Bielsko-Biała. The parish of St Stanislaus Kostka in Katowice-Giszowiec was separated as an independent parish on 28 May 1957.
The church has a simple form on a rectangular plan, is built of brick, and a Latin cross stands above the gable of the façade. The interior is a single nave 32.74 m long and 13.19 m wide, covered with a coffered ceiling. It has one altar, and the choir was rebuilt in the early 1970s.
In 2000 a pipe organ with 1,472 pipes was installed. Two bells hang in a separate bell tower.
Giszowiec lies south-east of the centre of Katowice. About three kilometres away lies Nikiszowiec, the second of the city’s historic mining estates.
