A brick single-nave church in Kromołów, regarded as the oldest Catholic church in Zawiercie, with a bell from 1508.
St Nicholas's Church stands in Kromołów, a district of Zawiercie, on Jurajska Street. It is a single-nave brick church with a chancel closed on three sides and the oldest Catholic church in the town. It dates from the 16th century, although the tradition reaches back to the Middle Ages.
The founders of the church were members of the Cromoli family, who also founded Kromołów. In 1651 the Boner family turned the church into an Arian meeting house. Later rebuildings and additions greatly changed its original shape. Above the door to the sacristy a griffin, the coat of arms of the Cromoli family, has survived.
The furnishings include a stone holy water stoup, an iron grille separating the chapel of St Anne from the nave, and a stone font in the chapel of St Isidore. In the church hangs the bell “St Nicholas” from 1508. There is also a monument to General Konstanty Gostkowski and his wife Zuzanna née Jordan in the shape of an unusual obelisk. According to legends the heavy iron doors come from Ogrodzieniec Castle.
