A former civil defence command shelter in Wojkowice, now an airsoft and paintball complex with an office building and a field.
The “Krypta 13” bunker in Wojkowice is a former civil defence command shelter, now part of a complex for airsoft and paintball games. Next to the bunker are a field and a converted former mine office building.
According to the venue's website, during the Cold War the bunker was the main headquarters of civil defence command for southern Poland. The crew was to number up to 3,000 people, in units such as nuclear blast observation, decontamination and the fire brigade. Facilities of this type had air and water filters, large stores and decontamination chambers.
The maze of corridors is about 900 m long and lies 15 m underground. Four separate entrances, closed by reinforced concrete doors, lead to it, and inside the temperature stays constant at about 12 degrees, regardless of the weather.
The former mine office building has five storeys and about 120 rooms. According to the operator, the field has six game zones on about 40,000 m², with trenches, watchtowers and containers. The whole is joined into one complex, where both organised groups and individuals play.
