A brick Lutheran church in the Kamienica cemetery, built in 1899 on the site of a wooden bell tower.
The Lutheran church in Kamienica is a small brick church from the end of the 19th century, located in the Lutheran cemetery in this district of Bielsko-Biała. It belongs to the Lutheran (Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession) parish in Stare Bielsko.
The rural community around Bielsko made up a third of the parish, so the residents of Stare Bielsko, Aleksandrowice, Wapienica and Kamienica demanded a third of the seats in the Church of the Saviour. They did not get permission for this and decided to build their own church. The Church of St John the Baptist in Stare Bielsko was consecrated in 1827, and that is where the faithful of Kamienica went.
The cemetery in Kamienica was founded in the 19th century, and in 1860 a wooden bell tower was built on it. In its place a brick chapel, now a church, was erected in 1899. The costs were co-financed by the Manhardt family, owners of the local cloth factory; they are buried in a tomb next to the church. After 1950 the church was renovated, and in 1999, for its centenary, it received a new facade and a renewed interior.
