An Evangelical-Augsburg church in Ogrodzona, consecrated in 2006 next to a former 19th-century cemetery chapel.
The Evangelical-Augsburg church in Ogrodzona (Dębowiec municipality) belongs to the Evangelical-Augsburg parish in Cieszyn. The present church was consecrated in 2006, and its origins go back to a Lutheran cemetery and a chapel from the 19th century.
The land for the Lutheran cemetery was donated in 1873 by Jan Broda, and the first funeral took place in 1877. Work on the cemetery chapel began in 1876. In 1923 its tower was enlarged and a bell was placed on it, which was taken down during the Second World War. The activity of the Ogrodzona branch of the Cieszyn parish was resumed on 25 March 1946, and the chapel was consecrated on 1 November 1976.
Construction of the new church began in 2005 on the initiative of the parish council. The Bishop of the Cieszyn Diocese, Rev. Paweł Anweiler, consecrated it on 3 September 2006. On the altar stands a crucifix given to the parish in 2009 by the local artist Andrzej Klimowski.
