Monument to Wojciech Korfanty by Zygmunt Brachmański, unveiled in 1999 on Silesian Parliament Square in Katowice.
The Monument to Wojciech Korfanty stands in the middle of Silesian Parliament Square (plac Sejmu Śląskiego) in Katowice, between the building of the Silesian Voivodeship Office and the Non-Integrated Offices building. It was unveiled on 19 June 1999.
The author of the monument is the sculptor Zygmunt Brachmański. The statue was placed on a pedestal, on the site of the pre-war plinth of a monument to Józef Piłsudski that had then been planned. The foundation deed was set in the wall on 21 June 1997 in the presence of Korfanty's grandson, Feliks.
On the pedestal is the inscription: "Wojciech Korfanty 1873-1939. I make only one request to the Silesian people: that they remain faithful to their Christian principles and to their attachment to Poland." Plaques are fixed on the north and south sides of the pedestal, and on the east side there are metal letters with the name and years of his life. The statue is signed by the author.
Nearby, about 400 m away, stands the Cathedral of Christ the King.
