Multimedia museum about the life and death of St Edith Stein, patron saint of Lubliniec, in the tenement house of her Courant grandparents, opened in 2009.
The Pro Memoria Edith Stein Museum in Lubliniec is housed on the upper floor of a tenement house at Edyty Stein 2, which once belonged to the grandparents of Edith Stein, the Courant family. The institution was opened on 28 February 2009. Edith Stein is a saint of the Catholic Church, a martyr and the patron saint of Lubliniec.
The museum consists of two exhibition rooms with a permanent exhibition devoted to the town's patron saint. It is multimedia in character: it shows the life of Edith Stein and her death at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and also presents her as a patron saint of Europe and of Lubliniec. The monitors show, among other things, films of the ceremony in which the town was placed under the patronage of St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, that is Edith Stein.
The building also has a multi-purpose room and a room used for temporary exhibitions. The opening ceremony was blessed by Bishop Jan Wieczorek, and in 2009 a concert by pupils of the Lubliniec music school and a klezmer band took place in the museum.
