The only surviving one of three Jewish cemeteries in Żarki, founded in 1821 on Polna Street; more than 700 gravestones stand there.
The New Jewish Cemetery is in Żarki, on Polna Street. It is the only surviving one of the three Jewish cemeteries that originally existed in the town.
The cemetery was founded in 1821. It covers 1.5 hectares, and more than 700 gravestones have survived there to this day. The oldest of them dates from 1835. The site is entered in the heritage register, which dates it to the early 19th century.
The other two Jewish cemeteries in Żarki have not survived, so this kirkut is today the only surviving cemetery of the former Jewish community in the town. The gravestones recall its members, and the cemetery itself is a place of remembrance and calls for quiet, attentive behaviour.
Nearby, about 400 metres away, is the synagogue in Żarki.
