A historic palace from the time of the First World War, now a hotel with a restaurant, spa and park.
Nieznanice Palace is a historic manor residence from the early 20th century, entered in the heritage register, which today houses a hotel with a restaurant and spa. It lies in the village of Nieznanice in Częstochowa County, about 18 km from Częstochowa.
The first mentions of Nieznanice date from the 16th century. In the second half of the 19th century the estate was inherited by Leon Wuensche, and his son Aureliusz built a new residence during the First World War: a modernist building with pseudo-Renaissance elements. The family farmed the estate well, growing mainly fodder beet.
In 1946, as a result of the land reform, the estate was taken over by the state. The palace building later housed the offices of an agricultural company, a nursery school, a canteen and a community room. In 1989 the conservator entered the whole property in the heritage register.
After renovation, the ground-floor part was opened as a restaurant in June 1998, and the guest rooms were brought into use gradually until the end of 2000. The palace has 16 rooms, and a new pavilion deep in the park, by the pond and the Japanese garden, has another 12. The venue accepts individual guests and training groups.
