A neoclassical palace in Baranowice, renovated after years of ruin, with a park full of monumental oaks.
The palace in Żory stands in Baranowice, today a district of the town, on Zamkowa Street. It is a 17th-century building, rebuilt in the 19th century and entered in the heritage register. Its style is described as neoclassical, and the walls are brick.
The palace was built in the 17th century. In the 19th century it was rebuilt by Emil von Durant. In the 1990s the building stood unused and fell into ruin. Later the palace was thoroughly renovated and opened to residents.
The palace is surrounded by a large park in which several dozen oaks protected as natural monuments grow.
It is about 3 km to the centre of Żory, where the City Museum and the former synagogue stand. The Palace in Borynia also lies in the area.
