About Markowice Panorama

Viewpoint at the edge of the Moravian Gate Arboretum with a view of Markowice, the Łężczok reserve and the Racibórz Basin.

The Markowice Panorama is a viewpoint at the edge of the Moravian Gate Arboretum, in the north-eastern part of Racibórz, in the Markowice district. It lies on the edge of the Obora city forest and is considered the historically most interesting viewing place in the arboretum.

What you can see from the panorama

The view extends over the buildings of Markowice, a village founded in the 13th century and, since 1977, a district of Racibórz. It is dominated by the neo-Gothic Church of St Hedwig of Silesia. Further away you can see the extensive forests of the Łężczok reserve with its old ponds, the Racibórz Basin and the hills of the Głubczyce Plateau, among them Łubowice with the traces of a stronghold.

Access and surroundings

The panorama is part of the forest paths of the Moravian Gate Arboretum. It is reached, among others, by the marked educational and relaxation path Desiderata. The arboretum covers 164 ha and lies in the south-western part of the Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie Landscape Park.
