A neo-Baroque parish church from 1845-1846 with two towers, entered in the heritage register.
St Lawrence's Church in Borowno is a neo-Baroque parish church with two towers, built in the mid-19th century and entered in the heritage register. It stands in the municipality of Mykanów, north of Częstochowa, and is the third parish church in the history of this village.
The building was initiated by the local parish priest Fr Józef Lisiecki. The foundation stone was blessed on 19 October 1845, work lasted until 1846, and the solemn dedication of the church took place on 8 October 1846. The consecration came only on 9 May 1904. Earlier, successive parish priests completed the church: one of them covered the roof with zinc sheet, another finished the first floor of the towers, furnished the interior and funded the fence around the church. In 1866 the churchyard was surrounded by a wall.
In 1929 the church was plastered and electricity was brought to it. In the 1980s the roof covering and windows were replaced, the paintings were renovated, and the chancel was raised and faced with marble.
It is a single-nave building with a semicircular chancel in which polychromes have survived. The facade is marked by two four-sided towers 50 metres high. The main entrance leads from the west through iron doors from the early 20th century. Originally the roof was covered with shingles, and on the front there was a copper dome with an iron cross.
The font, pulpit, two chandeliers and oak confessionals date from the end of the 19th century. In the main altar, beside the historic tabernacle, hangs a venerated 18th-century painting of Our Lady of the Scapular; its dress is covered with gold and silver from jewellery donated by parishioners. The painting covers an image of the patron saint, St Lawrence, from 1917. The church also has two side altars.
Only a hundred metres from the church lies the palace in Borowno.
