A Baroque church from 1661-1694, founded by the Denhoff family, with Rococo furnishings.
The Baroque Church of St Matthias the Apostle in Kruszyna was built in 1661-1694 with funds from the Denhoff family, and consecrated in 1696. It is a parish church of brick, with two towers and one nave.
Construction was begun by Anna Eufemia Denhoff, née Radziwiłł, widow of Stanisław Denhoff. The nave was built before 1683 by her son Zygmunt Wiktor Denhoff, who completed the whole in 1694, and the chancel was finished by Stanisław Aleksander Denhoff. The consecration was carried out by Bishop Jerzy Denhoff. The first major renovation in 1874-1877, with the rebuilding of the upper storeys of the tower, was financed by the Lubomirski family, and in 1914 the façade was plastered.
The façade is Baroque, with a richly decorated portal. In the interior, features of the late Baroque and Rococo combine: there are a late Baroque high altar and side altars from the 18th century, a Rococo pulpit, a font and a confessional serving as an altar. A late Renaissance tomb slab of Krystyna Rzeszowska, who died in 1622, has survived, as have chasubles from the 17th century. The church is entered in the heritage register.
