A municipal park from 1935 in Sosnowiec by the Brynica, with an exotarium and a Biodiversity Park.
Lieutenant Pilot Jan Fusiński Park is a municipal park in Sosnowiec on Kresowa and Piłsudskiego streets, on the left bank of the Brynica. It was created in 1935 and was the first publicly accessible city park in the town.
The park has had several names: Kresowy Park, Kruczkowski Park and Prus Park. The first comes from Kresowa Street, by which it lies. Until the end of 1960 the border of Sosnowiec ran here, and earlier, in 1795-1922, the border of the Kingdom of Poland. It owes the name Kruczkowski Park to the monument to the writer Leon Kruczkowski, which has stood here since 1980. The present name was given to the park by a resolution of the City Council on 22 February 2018. The patron, a 1938 graduate of the Bolesław Prus secondary school in Sosnowiec, was shot down over Germany during the Second World War.
The park covers 4.8 ha. During the war it was badly damaged and it was recreated in 1954-1956. In 2017 more than 50 species of trees and shrubs grew here, and the oldest specimens remembered the beginnings of the park. In the eastern part there is an exotarium with exotic plants and animals, which is a reconstruction of a pre-war palm house. Sosnowiec's first Biodiversity Park was also created in the park, joined in 2023 with the exotarium into one botanical complex.
