A historic city park of 2.47 ha in the centre of Siemianowice Śląskie, laid out in the 1920s next to the baths of the Laura steelworks.
Hutnik Park is a historic city park in the centre of Siemianowice Śląskie, between Śniadeckiego and Fitznerów streets. It covers 2.47 ha, is not fenced, and its centre is an oval basin with an illuminated fountain.
The park was created on the site of a steelworks pond at the “Laura” steelworks, later the “Jedność” steelworks. In 1908 a bathhouse for workers was opened here, funded by the company United Königshütte and Laurahütte, and in the mid-1920s a Modernist-style park was laid out beside it. The outline of the park was originally closed by two long avenues running from east to west, and the composition was completed by a double row of trees at the façade of the bathhouse. A stream flowed through the park, and in the middle lay an elongated pond, which the steelworkers later turned into a large, oval fountain.
After the war a single-storey social care home was built next to the bathhouse, and a retail pavilion in the north-eastern corner, which removed part of one of the paths. The park, together with the city baths, was entered in the heritage register on 17 November 1997. In 2016-2018 it was modernised: an illuminated fountain was created in the concrete basin, with recreational equipment and small architectural elements around it, and the paths and lighting were renewed.
The trees grow in linear plantings along the paths and in informal groups: imposing crack willows and white willows, horse chestnuts, ash trees, and red and pedunculate oaks. Among the shrubs are savin juniper, elder, weigela and ninebark. A row of poplars and shrubs separates the park from the railway line. From the paths radiating from the basin you can reach a playground and an outdoor gym. In the western part of the grounds stands the brick building of the Municipal Swimming Pool.
