About OSiR Park in Zawiercie

A five-hectare municipal park in Zawiercie founded before 1901 in the English style, entered in the heritage register.

The park on Szymańskiego street in Zawiercie, also known as the OSiR Park, covers about 5 hectares. It was laid out next to the Szymański villa in the English style, to a design by Hugo Kuder, before 1901.

Layout of the park

The park had a double loop of walking paths, rare plant specimens and ornamental ponds fed from the Młynówka stream. A cricket pitch was also laid out on the grounds, and from the south the entrance led from the side of the manor house.

After the war

After the Second World War the complex was turned into a municipal park. In 1962-1968 a sports complex with a stadium and a hall was built next to it, and in the park shrubs and roses were added, lit paths were laid out and a concert shell was built. Since 10 July 1991 the park has been entered in the heritage register under number A/1428/91, as part of the urban layout of the TAZ workers' housing estate.
