Starokozielski Park in Gliwice

Kozielska, Gliwice
About Starokozielski Park in Gliwice

A historic park on the site of a former multi-faith cemetery from 1858.

Starokozielski Park in Gliwice is a former multi-faith cemetery founded in 1858, today a historic park of about 5.9 hectares. It lies in the Wojska Polskiego district, west of the Old Town, between Kozielska and General Władysław Anders streets, next to the Aleja Majowa estate.

The former cemetery

The German name of this place was Simultanfriedhof, that is a cemetery where followers of different religions were buried. The layout of the necropolis has survived: the park has the shape of an irregular rectangle, a prominent main avenue and a characteristic tree stand. The site was entered in the heritage register on 5 November 2021.

Because of the past of the place, it is worth walking through here calmly, as in a cemetery.

Nearby

Nearby stand Plac Grunwaldzki Park, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church of All Saints.
