A sandstone shrine-monument to St John of Nepomuk from 1919, the work of the Wrocław sculptor Józef Baumaister.
The monument to John of Nepomuk in Knurów takes the form of a statue shrine, set up at the junction of Dworcowa and Koziełka streets. It was built in 1919 on the site of an earlier wooden structure.
The monument was commissioned by Franciszka Szulcowa, and in the same year it was blessed by the local parish priest. The sculpture was made by Józef Baumaister of Wrocław from grey sandstone brought from Lower Silesia. Above the figure rises a hipped canopy supported by richly profiled pillars.
St John stands with a finger raised to his lips, which symbolises the secrecy of confession. The monument is entered in the municipal register of historic monuments of Knurów. About 300 metres away stands the Church of St Cyril and St Methodius.
