A rolling stock museum with steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and carriages, run by an association since 1998.
The Railway Open-Air Museum in Pyskowice is a rolling stock museum set up on the grounds of the disused engine shed and the back area of Pyskowice station. It is run by an association that has been collecting and preserving historic vehicles since 1998.
The museum belongs to the Society for the Protection of Railway Monuments and the Organisation of Open-Air Museums (TOZK), which operated informally from 1993. The society's aim is to create a museum of rail vehicles and to save historic equipment from oblivion.
Part of the collection comes from Łazy and from the closed open-air museum in Krzeszowice.
The society's website speaks of over 60 exhibits: steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, passenger and freight carriages, auxiliary equipment and a pre-war electric multiple unit.
Exhibits include, among others, steam locomotives of the Ol49, TKt48, Pt47, Ty2, Ty42, Ty43, Ty45 and Ty51 classes, as well as diesel locomotives, a railway crane and the EW90 electric multiple unit. The steam locomotive Ty42-24 is in working order.
On the website you can book a visit and a ride on a retro train. Detailed rules are given by the society.
For more than a dozen years there have been talks about taking over the land from PKP in order to create an Upper Silesian Railway Museum here.
