A Neo-Gothic brick town hall of the former Załęże municipality from 1897, with a clock in the gable.

The former office of the Załęże municipality at Gliwicka 102 in Katowice is a brick building from 1897, called the town hall. It stands in a district that was a separate municipality until 1924 and was then incorporated into Katowice.

The building

The detached, three-storey building has a gable roof covered with tiles and a Neo-Gothic brick façade. Green bricks form accents, and pointed arches can be seen in the cornice, gable, portal and some of the windows. Above the main entrance the date 1897 is carved, and a clock is placed in the upper gable.

Functions over time

The building was built as the seat of the authorities of the Załęże municipality. After incorporation into Katowice it housed, among others, the registry office, a police station, a mother and child clinic and a dental surgery. The site belongs to the city of Katowice. In 2022 it was entered in the heritage register.
