Parish church and shrine in Jaworzno with a crowned image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, built in 1983-1997.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is also the parish church of the Jaworzno Osiedle Stałe parish. The image of Our Lady kept here was crowned by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimage in Sosnowiec on 14 June 1999. The painting is a copy of the image from the Church of St Alphonsus in Rome.
Efforts to obtain a church began in the 1960s, but the authorities' permission was obtained only in the following decade, and construction lasted from 1983 to 1997. The design was prepared by the architect Stanisław Habowski. The lower part of the church was blessed on 26 October 1986 by Bishop Stanisław Smoleński, the upper part in 1997 by Bishop Adam Śmigielski. The same bishop carried out the solemn consecration of the church on 27 October 2007.
In 1998 a plaque was set into the wall of the church in honour of the victims of the communist camp and prison for young political prisoners held in Jaworzno in 1944-1956. The memory of the place is also commemorated by the Monument to the Prisoners of the Camp in Jaworzno.
Since 2006 Our Lady of Perpetual Help has been the patron of Jaworzno.
