Sosnowiec
About Black Sea Cycle Trail

Green cycle trail no. 467, 15 km long, entirely within Sosnowiec, from Jacek Kuroń Park to the Three Emperors' Corner.

The Black Sea Cycle Trail is a green cycle trail (route no. 467) that runs entirely through Sosnowiec. It is 15 km long and links the Zagórski Forest trail with the Former Borderland trail.

Origin of the name

The name refers to a forest settlement known as early as the 15th century, lying in the marshy part of the Pakosznica primeval forest, in the area of today's Porąbka district and Kazimierz Górniczy. Because of its peaty bogs the settlement was formerly called Czarne Morze (the Black Sea), and earlier Pustkowie.

Route and surface

The trail starts in Jacek Kuroń Park in Kazimierz. It leads through Czarne Morze, Porąbka, Osiedle Juliusz, Browar, Dańdówka, Niwka, Park Leśny and Modrzejów, and ends at the Three Emperors' Corner. About 80% of the route is asphalt roads, and 20% unpaved roads and paths, mainly along railway tracks and the bed of the Biała Przemsza. The route crosses busy junctions, including with Wileńska and Imielińskiego streets.
