A stone tower from 1798 used to transport blast-furnace charge at a former ironworks.
The stone tower on Fabryczna Street in Poręba was completed in 1798. It was used to transport blast-furnace charge, that is the ingredients needed to smelt ore, and it is among the monuments of the former ironworking industry.
The tower has the shape of a cuboid on a plan close to a square and has three storeys. It was built of dressed limestone on lime mortar. On the ground floor there is a gateway with a half-barrel vault. The building was entered in the heritage register in 1975, and in 2023 the entry was renewed in the voivodeship register; it is one of two registered monuments in the town. A similar 19th-century furnace-top tower stands in Palowice.
Nearby stands St Joseph's Church in Poręba, and further on lies the Bishops' Castle in Siewierz.
