A former mine in Maciejów with a headframe building, a Siemens winding engine and a spoil heap, on the Industrial Monuments Route.
The Maciej Shaft Complex in Zabrze-Maciejów, at Srebrna 6, is a complex of buildings of a former hard coal mine from the first half of the 20th century, together with a spoil heap. It belonged to the Donnersmarckhütte company and later formed part of the Pstrowski mine. The complex is entered in the heritage register and lies on the Silesian Industrial Monuments Route.
The complex includes the shaft-top building with a winding tower, an engine house with a two-drum winding engine by Siemens-Schuckertwerke, the former weighbridge (now a gatehouse), a de-ironing building, the former forge, a ventilation building from 1922-1923 and a transformer station from 1955-1956. The monument is dated to 1920-1930. The spoil heap was built up in 1915-1970.
The site is operated by the Demex Mining Company, and the complex is described as a group of buildings of the former Concordia Hard Coal Mine. Visiting rules need to be checked before your visit, because the complex has no website of its own with fixed hours. Among other technical sites of the region are the nearby Guido Coal Mine (Historic Hard Coal Mine) and the water tower in Zabrze.
