Branch of the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia with collections on the culture of the Silesian Beskids highlanders, in a former Evangelical inn from 1827.
The Andrzej Podżorski Beskid Museum in Wisła is a branch of the Museum of Cieszyn Silesia, devoted to the life and culture of the highlanders of the Silesian Beskids. It was opened on 16 August 1964 during the 1st Beskid Culture Week, and its creator and organiser was the community activist and writer Andrzej Podżorski.
The exhibition includes everyday objects, furniture, costumes and examples of folk art. The museum also has a collection of paintings by artists such as Czesław Kuryatto, Ludwik Konarzewski, Jan Wałach and Paweł Steller. In the immediate vicinity stands an enclave of timber architecture from Wisła and the surrounding area.
The museum is housed in the building of a former Evangelical inn, where worshippers arriving for services from distant valleys and slopes found shelter. The brick building was erected in 1827 on the site of a wooden inn from 1794, and on 2 March 1960 it was entered in the heritage register.
