About Bogdaniec Nature Reserve

A forest reserve in the Janów municipality with beech woods on the limestone hills of Bogdaniec and Koziarska Góra.

The Bogdaniec Nature Reserve is a forest reserve in the Janów municipality in Częstochowa County, within the Trail of the Eagles' Nests Landscape Park. It protects beech woods on limestone hills with rock outcrops.

What the reserve protects

The protected area is a forest with natural features: fertile mountain beech woods and thermophilous orchid beech woods, as well as tall rock walls with rock vegetation, including brittle bladder-fern and mosses. The beech habitats occupy two extensive hills, Bogdaniec and Koziarska Góra, with numerous summits. The relief here is varied, which gives the reserve scenic value.

The plants found here include sweet woodruff, yellow archangel, May lily, large-flowered helleborine, coralroot bittercress and nine-leaved toothwort. The aim of protection is to preserve the forest ecosystem for natural, scientific and educational reasons.
