A brick granary from the 17th century on Wiejska Street in Stare Gliwice, formerly part of the estates of the Franciscan monastery.
The granary on Wiejska Street in Stare Gliwice dates from the 17th century and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in this part of the city. It has been entered in the heritage register since 1960.
The building belonged to the estates of the Franciscan monastery at the Church of the Holy Cross in Gliwice. Originally it served as a residence. In the 19th century it was rebuilt: higher storeys were added, the roof structure was replaced, and the size and spacing of the windows and doors were changed. The heritage register classifies it as a farm or peasant granary, built of brick.
A restaurant operates in the building, so it can be seen from the outside or as a guest of the venue. If you are planning a longer walk around the city, the Gliwice Radio Tower lies in the same area, and it is about 3.5 km to the centre with the Piast Castle.
