A brick chapel from 1967-1968 in Żywiec-Rędzina, with a Baroque altar from 1708 and Gothic sculptures from around 1400.
The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary stands in Rędzina, a district of Żywiec, on Krakowska Street. It belongs to the parish of Divine Mercy, and its origins go back to a wooden chapel in an old village that was flooded by a lake.
At first a wooden chapel stood in Rędzina, which was replaced by a brick one in 1912. That one did not survive the construction of the dam at Tresna and the creation of Lake Żywiec. The new chapel was built in 1967-1968 thanks to the efforts of the residents, and was later extended to a design by Franciszek Kutscha.
Historic items from older churches ended up in the chapel: a Baroque altar from 1708 from All Saints Church and two Gothic wooden sculptures from around 1400, Christ with an apple and the Virgin Mary. There are also 19th-century paintings, including the Holy Trinity from 1830 by Andrzej Madalski, and the figure of Our Lady of the Rosary was made by Piotr Kłoska of Szczyrk. Outside stands a 19th-century figure of Christ falling under the cross.
