Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Katowice

The Church of Our Lady of Fatima is a new parish church in the Katowice district of Kostuchna, at ulica Bukszpanowa 26. Construction began in 2012, and the church was consecrated on 13 October 2025.

How the parish and the church came about

The decision to found a new parish and build a church on the border of Piotrowice, Kostuchna and Zarzecze was taken in 2005 by Archbishop Damian Zimoń. The land was bought on 8 March 2007, and the site was blessed on 8 September that year. The design was prepared by the architects Dieter Paleta and Leszek Rakoczy.

Construction of the church and bell tower began in October 2012. The foundation stone was laid on 13 June 2013 by Archbishop Wiktor Skworc, and the bell tower was blessed on 13 May 2017. The consecration of the church took place on the anniversary of the last Fatima apparitions.
