Parish church in Racibórz-Brzezie from 1904-1906, designed by the Berlin architect Oskar Hoßfeld.
The Church of Saints Matthew and Matthias stands in the Brzezie district of Racibórz and is a parish church belonging to the Pogrzebień deanery of the Archdiocese of Katowice. It was built in the early 20th century.
The design was prepared by the Berlin architect Oskar Hoßfeld, author of many churches, among others in Szczecin, Poznań and Wrocław. The foundation stone was blessed on 24 September 1904, and the construction was led by Józef Kuballa of Racibórz. The church was consecrated on 5 November 1906. The style is described as modernist with neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau elements.
The high altar and the side altars are in the Baroque form of the 17th century. In 1909 the polychrome painting was made by Józef Langer of Wrocław; in 1971 it was painted over.
From Brzezie it is close to the Moravian Gate Arboretum (about 2.6 km), and the historic centre of Racibórz with Racibórz Castle is about 4 km further.
