A Neo-Gothic parish church from 1884-1885 on ulica Wolności in Zabrze, with two towers 67 metres high.
The Neo-Gothic church on ulica Wolności in Zabrze was built in 1884-1885. It stands out for its two towers, 67 metres high, which are visible from afar above the surrounding buildings. It is a parish church dedicated to St Francis of Assisi, belonging to the Diocese of Gliwice.
The church was built in 1884-1885 and consecrated on 6 May 1886 by Cardinal Georg Kopp. The design was probably prepared by Paul Jackisch, and the style is described as Neo-Gothic. After renovation in 1948 the church has served the parish to this day.
The building has three naves and three altars. The length is 52 metres, and the width and height of the main body are 17 metres each. The two towers reach 67 metres.
The interior is furnished with an organ from 1920, made by the firm of Paul Berschdorf of Nysa. The instrument has 35 stops, two manuals and a pedal with pneumatic action. The clock on the tower dates from 1896, and the three bells bear the names of St Francis, St Barbara and St Benedict Joseph Labre.
