About Church of St Hyacinth in Bór Zapilski

A wooden parish church from 1921 in Bór Zapilski, entered in the heritage register and located on the wooden architecture trail.

The Church of St Hyacinth stands on the border of Bór Zapilski and Czarna Wieś, in the municipality of Wręczyca Wielka. It is a wooden church from the early 20th century, entered in the heritage register and included in the wooden architecture trail of the Silesian Voivodeship.

History

The parish in Bór Zapilski-Czarna Wieś was separated from the parish in Truskolasy in 1919. Work on a church began at once, to a design by the architect Stefan Szyller. Construction was completed in 1921, and the consecration took place on 1 October of the same year. The building was entered in the heritage register only in 2020.

What the church looks like

The building has a log construction on a stone footing and is clad in boards. It has three naves in a pseudo-basilican arrangement and an elongated chancel with a three-sided end. Next to the chancel stand two symmetrical rooms, a sacristy and a chapel, and on the sides of the nave two more chapels. The roofs vary: gable, hipped and half-gabled, and a four-sided bell turret with a lantern and a bulbous cap rises from the ridge. The gables are decorated with boards laid in a herringbone pattern.

The interior has preserved furnishings from the 1920s: the high altar of St Hyacinth and the side altars of St Joseph and Our Lady of Częstochowa. The naves are separated by wooden posts with braces.
