A Neo-Gothic church from 1868-1871 in Godula, Ruda Śląska, designed by Teodor Linke, with stained glass by L. Glötz.
The Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist stands in the Godula district of Ruda Śląska. The brick Neo-Gothic church has three naves and a single tower, and it was entered in the heritage register in 1999.
The foundation stone was laid on 29 June 1868, and the church was blessed on 14 November 1871. The architect was Teodor Linke, builder for the Schaffgotsch family. Zabytek.pl dates the building to 1865, so the start of the work is given differently in different sources.
The windows are decorated with stained glass made by L. Glötz of Salzburg. One of them shows the Ballestrem coat of arms.
Closest to the church is Fazaniec Park (about 2.3 km), and further away the Szombierki Heat and Power Plant and the Museum of the History of People's Poland in Ruda Śląska.
