An Evangelical church in Simoradz, built as a chapel in 1926-1928 to a design by an architect from Cieszyn.
The Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in Simoradz is a Lutheran (Evangelical Augsburg) church, built in 1926-1928 as a chapel. It belongs to the Evangelical Augsburg parish in Skoczów.
The Chapel Building Committee was set up in 1923, and the foundation stone was blessed on 13 May 1926. The design was prepared by Telecki of Cieszyn. The first service after the completion of the work was held on 17 May 1928. Only in 1995 was the chapel renamed a church.
The building measures 15 by 8.5 metres. Inside there are 126 seats: 86 in the main nave and 40 in the organ gallery. A font was added in 2009.
The Reformation reached Simoradz around 1545, and in 1858 an Evangelical cemetery was consecrated here. A visit to the area can be combined with the Gustaw Morcinek Museum in Skoczów, about 2.5 km away.
