Neo-Gothic church from 1906 on Rynek Wieluński, in the former centre of Częstochówka.
The Neo-Gothic Church of the Dying Lord Jesus stands in the northern frontage of Rynek Wieluński in Częstochowa, on the site of the former centre of Częstochówka, that is New Częstochowa. Today it is a branch church of the parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
The first brick church was built in 1786, together with an almshouse, by the Jasna Góra sub-sacristan Fr Władysław Nieciński, because the almshouse by the Church of St James had been pulled down. The almshouse was demolished in 1838, and in 1906 the present church was built on its site. In 1925 it was enlarged through the efforts of the parish priest of St Roch's parish, Fr Piotr Waśkiewicz. Until 1826 Rynek Wieluński was the central place of Częstochówka.
It is a small hall-type building of brick on a rectangular plan, in the Neo-Gothic style, with the chancel facing north. The furnishings are Neo-Gothic: a high altar and two side ones. The liturgical vessels date from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Half a kilometre from here rises Jasna Góra, and a walk in its direction also leads through the Podjasnogórskie Parks.
