A church on a hill in Zawada, Wodzisław Śląski, built after 1947 on a cross plan.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross stands on a hill in Zawada, a district of Wodzisław Śląski. A flight of 22 steps leads from ulica Paderewskiego to its main gate.
The church is 40.2 metres long and 23.6 metres wide, with a cruciform nave. The secular authorities approved the building plans in 1947, and construction began in July of the same year. The cross on the building was raised in October 1948.
Beyond these data, the available sources say little about the architect, the furnishings and the later history of the church, so it is worth asking the parish about them. The hill on which the church stands makes it visible from the surrounding streets of the district, and a few dozen steps have to be climbed to reach the main entrance.
