About Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Będzin-Łagisza

A post-war parish church in Łagisza, Będzin, built from 1946, with a Way of the Cross from 1949.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Roman Catholic parish church in Łagisza, a district of Będzin. It belongs to the Będzin deanery and is a post-war church: construction began in 1946.

Building after the war

Work began on 27 May 1946 to a design by Tadeusz Rudzki. It was completed thanks to the efforts of Father Leon Stasiński and the parishioners. The building work was blessed on 15 September 1946 by Bishop Teodor Kubina of Częstochowa, and the same bishop solemnly blessed, that is consecrated, the church on 25 September 1949.

Interior

Inside are the Stations of the Cross made in 1949 by the Kraków artist Jadwiga Socha. The stained-glass windows go well with the architecture of the building.
