Church of the Most Holy Saviour in Blachownia

Blachownia
About Church of the Most Holy Saviour in Blachownia

Parish church in Blachownia built in 1993-2000 to a design by Marek Witkowski, next to a cemetery.

The Church of the Most Holy Saviour is the parish church in Blachownia. It was built next to the municipal cemetery in Błaszczyki, on a site that had been planned for this purpose as early as 1974.

Construction

The original plan of 1974 for a cemetery and funeral home was never completed. In 1993, on the initiative of the parish priest of the parish of St Michael the Archangel in Blachownia, work began on the same site, but to a new design and on new foundations. The design is by the architect Marek Witkowski. Archbishop Stanisław Nowak of Częstochowa blessed and laid the foundation stone on 23 April 1995. Construction was completed in 2000, and in the following years the church was furnished.

In the area lies the Blachownia Reservoir, and in Blachownia itself there is also the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Poland and St Michael the Archangel.
