A parish church in Piotrowice-Ochojec from 1974-1979, built by volunteer labour, with a sculpture of Christ in the chancel.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St John Bosco stands on Aleksandra Fredry Street in the Piotrowice-Ochojec district of Katowice. It is a parish church built in the 1970s.
Construction began in 1974 to a design by the engineers Karol Gierlotka and Franciszek Klimek. The work was carried out by parishioners as volunteer labour. The church was blessed by Bishop Herbert Bednorz on 15 December 1979.
The concept for the decoration was prepared by the engineers Karol Gierlotka and Michał Kuczmiński and the sculptor Zygmunt Brachmański. Rebuilding of the interior began in 1988. In 1989 Brachmański's sculpture of Christ emerging from the wall was placed in the chancel. In 1991-1992 a marble altar, a pulpit, a font and altar rails were installed.
The church has two naves set perpendicular to each other. The adjoining chapel of St John Bosco holds a copy of the Image of Our Lady of Piekary, and in 2018 a chapel dedicated to St John Paul II was blessed. The parish feast falls on the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Nearby is Zadole Park, about 1.1 km away.
