A Neo-Romanesque church of 1892-1894 with three towers and a dome, founded by Count Donnersmarck.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Nakło Śląskie is a Neo-Romanesque church with three towers, built in 1892-1894 at ul. Główna 3. The foundation stone was laid on 18 August 1892, and the consecration took place on 24 October 1894.
About 90 per cent of the costs were covered by Count Lazarus IV Henckel von Donnersmarck. The design was made by the architect Hugo Heer of Bytom, who also worked in Vienna. The brick building combines Neo-Romanesque features with elements of Byzantine art.
The church has a central plan, three naves, an octagonal dome over the main space and a chancel closed on three sides. It holds about 1,500 people. The organ of 1894 was built by the firm Schlag & Söhne (ten stops, two manuals and a pedal) and was restored in 2005. Nearby stand the Donnersmarck Mausoleum of 1889 and the St Lazarus Institute of 1899 for orphans, run by the Sisters of St Charles Borromeo.
In the area it is worth seeing Lake Chechło and the palace park in Świerklaniec.
