A brick church in the shape of a multi-sided tent in Piaśniki, consecrated in 1990.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands at ulica Chorzowska 4 in the Świętochłowice district of Piaśniki. Its form resembles a multi-sided tent with a tall bell tower, and it was built of brick in 1982-1990.
The parish operated from 1 July 1938 as a pastoral centre, and in 1984 it was formally established by Bishop Herbert Bednorz. Permission to build was issued on 20 March 1980, work began in February 1982, and the church was consecrated on 8 December 1990 by Bishop Damian Zimoń. The designer was Jacek Kosek, and the structure was developed by Stanisław Majewski and Marek Właszczuk.
The church has two levels. Upstairs there is a single nave with a polygonal interior, with galleries supported on plain columns, and four altars. Below is the chapel of St Joseph. New bells were blessed in September 2004.
The nearest site from here is the Museum of the Silesian Uprisings in Świętochłowice.
