A kirkut covering about 0.6 ha, with a funeral home and about two hundred gravestones.
The Jewish cemetery in Zawiercie (kirkut) covers about 0.6 ha on Daszyńskiego street, formerly Dzierżyńskiego. It was founded in 1911; the historian Przemysław Burchard also cites a possible beginning in the 18th century and a slightly larger area, 0.64 ha.
The funeral home, the mortuary and about two hundred gravestones have survived to this day. This is the burial place of the Jewish community of Zawiercie. Its fate during the war is covered by a separate entry: the Zawiercie Ghetto. The community's important places of worship are also described by the Synagogue in Zawiercie.
The necropolis is a place of remembrance. Keep quiet there and dress modestly, and custom requires men to cover their heads. It is worth checking access and the rules of entry with the town hall or with the local organisations that look after the cemetery.
