An Evangelical Augsburg church from 1782-1786, rebuilt in 1912, with a historic bell from 1794.
The Evangelical Augsburg Church stands at Plac Kościelny 25 in Jaworze and is the church of a parish belonging to the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland. It was built in 1782-1786, and its present Neoclassical appearance is the result of a rebuilding in 1912.
The church was built in 1782-1786, funded by Count Jerzy Laschowski. The tower was added in 1852, and in 1912 the church was rebuilt by Ludwik Kametz of Cieszyn. The building is of stone, and on its south elevation is the coat of arms of the Austrian Empire. The monument is entered in the register.
Inside stand a Neoclassical high altar with figures of two evangelists and a pulpit. A painting “The Last Supper” by Kramolin from the end of the 18th century hangs here. The most interesting item of furnishing is considered to be the bell from 1794, funded by Baron Arnold Saint-Genois and decorated with the coats of arms of the Saint Genois d'Anneaucourt and Nałęcz-Laschowski families.
Beside the church stand the buildings of the former parish complex. The former Evangelical school from about 1831 is today the parish house, and the presbytery was built in 1794 and rebuilt in 1868. In Jaworze there is also the Museum of Marine and Inland Fauna and Flora, and from here it is easy to reach Szyndzielnia and Błatnia.
