Timber Lutheran church from 1937 in Zabrze's Mikulczyce district, entered in the heritage register.
The timber Lutheran church on ul. Brygadzistów in Mikulczyce, a district of Zabrze, is one of the youngest timber churches in the region. It was built in 1937 and today is entered in the heritage register.
Plans to build a Lutheran church appeared as early as 1930, but money ran out and the project was not carried out. Seven years later the church went up in less than two months. It was designed and built by the firm of Christoph und Unmack from the town of Niesky, which specialised in simple, functional timber buildings. This technology made for quick assembly and low costs.
The church is timber, single-nave, with one tower. The heritage register describes its style as styleless, which fits well with the simple, utilitarian structure. After the Second World War the church was taken over by Catholics, and Protestants recovered it in 1952. In 2001-2002 the roof and windows were replaced and the foundations strengthened. The building was entered in the heritage register in 2012 (number A/378/12).
