Neo-Baroque building from 1909-1911 in Chorzów Batory, the former seat of the Bismarckhütte municipality, later Hajduki Wielkie.
The former town hall on ulica Ratuszowa in Chorzów Batory is a Neo-Baroque, three-storey building from 1909-1911. It was built as the seat of the head of the Bismarckhütte municipality, later Hajduki Wielkie, and is listed in the heritage register.
After the area was incorporated into Poland, the municipality was renamed Hajduki Wielkie. Until 1939 the building housed the authorities of the Świętochłowice county office. After 1948 it passed to the State Treasury and until 1998 was occupied by the Citizens' Militia, and later by the Police.
The basement housed a boiler room, the caretaker's flat, cellars and police rooms with cells. The ground floor held the tax office with a fireproof safe, the residents' registration office, police offices and accounts, the first floor administration offices, and the second floor a ceremonial meeting room with side rooms and the mayor's flat. The meeting room has three windows with stained glass showing coats of arms, and the double staircase is decorated with ceramic wall cladding. The ceilings are decorated with stucco.
About 2.4 km away lies the Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park.
